13 Jan 1943, Joan Whiteley's wartime diary

Submitted by jo.price on

I feel very guilty for not writing and keeping up up to date but although I am not’ working’ I have no time to spare.  Tuesday morning group.  Saturday noon group. Wed afternoon lectures.  Tuesday pm lectures.  Reading sewing – I have made myself a skirt!

On 11.1.43 there were more letters from home. None for me.

12.1.43 Money IRC 25Y.

11.1.43 In the evening 12th Night. An excellent performance.  Unfortunately all the Christmas and New Year shows had to be given on wrong nights first because of fear of epidemic then sickness in the cast.

The R.C Nativity Play I did not like, compared with the United Church Play there was no comparison.  The Childrens mime was simply sweet.

There is rather a religious disturbance in the camp.  I am being upheaved somewhat & trying to find order out of chaos.  My one wish is that I was home and could work this thing out in peace & quiet in the atmosphere if my home or that I could be with Forbes, he is sane & sensible & could give me a helping hand.  Pray. Pray. Pray for guidance for help.  The Lord is my  God as well as Lord of the World.  He will help me.  He will help the world.  Without him I am no good & the World is finished.
