There is an Indonesian restaurant in Central which claims to be established since 1968. I am not sure whether the current owner of that restaurant is related to the original restaurant in Happy Valley.
As I had been living on Wong Nei Chong Road from the late 1950s till mid-1970s, I have some faint image about this restaurant on Wong Nei Chong Road and I have a stronger image of Indonesian Restaurant on Leighton Road, just opposite to Leighton Centre and next to the then well-known (Pine & Bamboo) Peking Restaurant (松竹樓). In the 1990s, this restaurant was moved nearby with a modern look, but it did not seem to last very long.
Back in the day, I used to patronise the Istimewa on Wong Nai Chung Road and later the Indonesia Restaurant and Cafe de Loren on Leighton Road. Another luncheon establishment was the Sunning House Hotel.
The Indonesia Restaurant later moved to Yun Ping Road and had a branch restaurant in Kowloon on Prat Avenue.
