The 1905 Post Office Annual Report mentioned the existence of six pillar letter postboxes in Kowloon.

The 1913 List of Pillar Letter Boxes provided the location of these six postboxes and their designations. The pillar letter box at the junction of Cameron and Carnarvon Roads was one of the early postboxes placed in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.

This postbox was originally designated as No. 18. Photographs from the 1950s show that the old pillar letter box had no royal cypher on it and had been re-designated as postbox No. 2. The postbox with its slit opening faced Cameron Road.

Today, the pillar letter box is long gone. The postbox which is designated as No. 2 is a current one and has been relocated to the western side of Carnarvon Road, south of Cameron Road.
