Heavy draw-off hydrants were installed under the Kai Tak flight path and other high risk locations between 1962 and around 1971. This one on Boundary Street near the rail bridge was probably one of the original 14 that were installed as a high priority between the airport and Tai Hang Tung Road in Shek Kip Mei.
