If it's acceptable to do some product promotion at Gwulo, I would like to introduce my new Hong Kong Heritage Maps. These maps are an overview of our most significant surviving buildings and aims to help people plan their next adventure in the city or country side. There are two maps, one side for Declared Monuments (134 as of August 204) and the other side for Grade I Historic Buildings (193 as of Aug 2024). You can check off the places you have already been to on the checklist.
I made this a few years ago for fun and I finally have the chance now to publish and make it more accessible to the community. I (unofficially) consolidate information from AMO and AAB websites. Declared monuments are simple enough to look up, but the Grade I list requires a bit more digging. I give basic information for each site, including bilingual names, location, year of completion and a thumbnail image. They are also colour coded based on the building type.
I'm hoping that this would be a great Christmas gift for anyone who's interested in history. If you are interested in the maps, please visit my website below for more details and buy from there. You can enter discount code GWULO to get 12% off any items. They will also be arriving at shops such as G.O.D. and Bookazine soon.
About myself:
My name is Nick Tsao and I am fairly new to posting on Gwulo. I attended the Gwulo gathering at American Club last month and showed this map to some members of the community. I am an architect turned papercutting artist, founder of the brand Papertecture. I am currently living at the Wanchai Blue House and I occasionally give tours of the Blue House for RGS and other organisations.
