Owned by Fung Geng-wu, the villa was a two-storey traditional Chinese-style building. Fung is engaged in the tea business. In 1938, due to the fall of Guangzhou/Canton, the Guangzhou Fudan Middle School moved here. In 1940, Fung resold the villa to the BCMS (Bible Churchmen's Missionary Society), a Christian missionary group, for preaching and caring for abandoned babies. In 1949, the property was resold to the Fanling Babies Home. From the 1950s, the property was used as the Ou Wai Lam Laundry whose main business was the cleaning of military uniforms for the British troops stationed in Hong Kong.
