According to a list of German Children made in 1939 my grandfather Hans Melchior (and his 1.5 year old daughter Karin Melchior) lived at 177 Island Road. Does anyone have a photo of the house that stood there in the 1930's? Thanks in advance.
I couldn't find a mention of 177 Island Road, but the 1938 Street Index lists R.B.L 177 on the stretch of Island Road at Repulse Bay. (It is shown on page 164 of the printed document, Image 270 in the online viewer. R.B.L. = Rural Building Lot).
'RBL 177 RP' still exists, and is the site of today's '90 Repulse Bay Road'. I think that's roughly the area where your grandfather was living.
Thanks for recent entry of Juror lists. Accoring to these Hans Otto Melchior in 1939 lived on "Shousan Hill Road". I'm not sure if he may have moved, and thus also lived at, 177 Island Road as described in this thread.
Of interest he also appears in these lists in 1929 (Cameron Rd) and 1930 (Longsight Villa).
