A new service station was completed in April 1950 to replace the former SOCONY Super Service Station that was torn down by the Japanese during the war. A Mr. Ip who used to work at the former station but now runs the new one said that he had been in the service station business for the past 22 years. He had operated the first service station ever built in Hong Kong. That was in 1927. The station was located on the site now occupied by the Hong Kong Bank Building.

Today, a service station is still in situ but below the Chung Nam Building.
