According to CLP's annual report from 1953, a substation was built on Ki Lung Street in 1953 that year. The current modernist building looks like it could be the original.
Thanks CityUnseen, nice to see it again though no longer in its original look. Google's January 2017 street view shows a note on the wall in Chinese - "CLP Property, ads not permitted". My former home was two blocks away. Every Sunday, Brothers from St. Francis Xavier's College (my school) walked along Shek Kip Mei Street to attend church service at St. Francis of Assisi. Peter
