The Hong Kong Aviation Club's Nissen Hut at the former Kai Tak Airport was built in 1958. The building was previously used by the former Far East Flying Training School (formed in 1933).

In 1981, the Hong Kong Flying Club (formed in July 1964) and Aero Club of Hong Kong (formed in  November 1964) merged to become the Hong Kong Aviation Club. In 1983, the Hong Kong Aviation Club took over the running of the Far East Flying Training School.
