"The Man clan is one of the 'Five Big Clans' of the early major settlers in the New Territories. Although not the first, the clan arrived as early as the 15th century in San Tin and in Tai Hang. There are several ancestral halls in San Tin, one of which belongs to the whole clan and others to different branches. The Man Lun-Fung Ancestral Hall, occupying the low lying ground of San Tin facing the abandoned fields of the clan, was built more than 200 years ago in honour of one of the clan's ancestors, Man Lun-fung. The building follows the traditional style, having three halls and two enclosed open courtyards. In the middle hall are the ancestral altars where generations of the families' soul tablets are placed and worshipped."

According to the Antiquities and Monuments Office website, the building was declared a monument in 1983 and a full restoration was carried out in 1987.
