I happened to be on Peng Chau that particular day back in 1986. The fire was so intense that soot was everywhere within a radius of 200 Metres of sort. Some islanders living atop the hill next door (Ho King Terrace 好景台) had to leave their homes temporarily just to get away from the black smoke and fire. Fire fighters had been very busy that day.
