I know we can easily bookmark threads by commenting on them (then they will appear on our "activity" list) but it would be nice to have the ability to bookmark threads without the need to comment on them. Any thoughts David?

I'd be interested in more information about this:

  • How do you expect a bookmark feature will work on Gwulo - what will it allow you to do?
  • Are other users looking for this feature?
  • We view Gwulo from our web browser, and modern browsers have good support for bookmarking pages, gathering bookmarks into folders, etc. (e.g. to bookmark a page in Chrome I can tap the star icon at the top of the browser, or press ctrl-D on the keyboard.) What would Gwulo's bookmarks offer that is better than using the browser's bookmarks?

David - when I wrote that I was sort of imagining it for images - a bit like the way you can "favourite" an image on FLICKR.  I use this on flickr as a quick way to keep track of images I feel may be useful for future reference. I've often semi-remembered a gwulo image on here and then lost track of it because I couldn't remember the location or associated tags/text (if any exist) and don't have enough info to use the search facility properly.I'm not sure it would be that useful for text based threads.  It was just a thought triggered by kpl's lost pool picture, I don't know how useful it would be to other users?

In terms of using the browser instead, yes, I could do that but I try to keep my browser bookmarks to a minimum and it would be preferable to have something contained within the site itself.

P.S Sorry for potentially causing you more work!!

If you look at an image page when you're logged in, you'll now see an 'Add to favourites' link. Clicking it does what it says.

Then you can see your favourites at: https://gwulo.com/my-favourites

It isn't pretty, but please could you try it out, and let me know if it does what you're looking for, and any changes to make it better.

yes, this is exactly what I was after. many thanks. That was quick!

Improve? Works well but maybe put a favourites tab under the user profile for easier access?

The tab approach has some problems, so instead you can now find a link to the page in the 'User account' menu:

my favourites

Thanks David that's great.

Does this mean all future enhancements will be done in just as short a time? 😁
