At the risk of going off the Gwulo "piste", I wonder if anyone can help me trace Albert Warren, the younger brother of my grandfather, Charles Warren and youngest of all the Warren siblings. In the thread https://gwulo.com/charles-edward-warren David once suggested that he might have followed his brother to Hong Kong, when an A.H. Warren turned up, but it wasn't him. Just one year apart in age, the brothers must have been close. They both took apprenticeships in Irchester, Northamptonshire - Charles with a baker and Albert with a butcher. The last record I've found for Albert on Ancestry is the 1891 census. I can't find a marriage or death. Charles sailed to East London, South Africa in 1893 and is recorded as C. Warren in a passenger list on FindmyPast. He worked in a hotel as a patissier for a couple of years. From South Africa he sailed to Hong Kong after hearing tales of fortunes to be made there. It is quite possible that Albert tried to follow his brother to South Africa, Hong Kong - or tried another country such as Canada, but I can't find him. All help appreciated!

Samuel and Elizabeth must have had several children before Albert James born 1873. Do you have any of their names so I can check 1861 and 1871 and 1881 censuses?
Very odd. 1881 census shows "not transcribed" and the family does not appear on the original
Albert is registered as Albert T aged 7. I have corrected it on Ancestry. He is the youngest after Joseph 17, William 15, Dudley 13, Lizzie 10, Charkey (sic) 8. Samuel is 44 Shoemaker and Parish Clerk

Thanks Ann. The older children were the following: George b. 1855; Benjamin b. 1857; Rachael b. 1859; Emily b. 1861; Joseph b. 1863; (Arthur) William b. 1866; Samuel b. 1867; Lizzie b. 1870. Apart from Arthur William, I've only given you the first names. As I recall, the children mainly stayed in the area, apart from William, when he joined the army. After 1911 when both his parents had died, Charles seems to have commissioned two gravestones in Denford churchyard to commemorate both them and three of his siblings, Emily, Samuel and Joseph together with two of Joseph's children. If Albert had died by then, I imagine he would have been included in the inscriptions.
