Urinal on Connaught Road at the west end of Wing Lok Street [1902-????]

Another building in the middle of the praya. First mentioned in the Government Gazette (call for tender) in 1901 "on the praya opposite Marine Lot 37". The Public Works Report for 1902 refers:

Four urinals of masonry and concrete, lined with glazed bricks, were begun in the early part of the year, but only one reached completion before its close, the principal cause of the delay being the failure of a local company to supply the glazed bricks. All the urinals referred to are situated ….. on the Praya……[at]  the West end of Wing Lok Street.

The urinal was located very close to the Wing Lok Pier and the Permanent Pier No. 6 off Queen Street. Unfortunately, we don’t have photos of these piers so far that show the urinal clearly.

Like the other urinals on Connaught Road, this one survived WW2, but around 1950 it was demolished to make way for motor traffic.
