Update 2023-11-14
Nine houses built on Marine Lot 12, the address is 25-33 Connaught Road Central (see 1922 map in connection with the 1938 Street Index.). Probably built at the same time as houses 34, 35, 36, 37 Connnaught Road Central (on ML 13). As a guess the construction date was set to 1905.
When I originally posted this, I believed that eight houses were built on Marine Lot 12, their address being 26-33 Connaught Road Central.
The houses can be seen on this map from 1960:
The existence of eight houses was correct from the 1950s onwards, but not for the five decades before.
Sometimes simple counting helps. Have a look at this photo from 1906 and count:
Right of the Ornate/Douglas Building are 13 (!) houses, and not 12 as I believed before. The four ones on the right are 34, 35, 36, 37 Connaught Road Central, leaving 9 houses.
The error is introduced by the 1960 map which shows the Chinese Chamber of Commerce on 24-25 Connaught Road. Before this building was constructed, the Ornate/Douglas Building stood there. The street index from 1938 refers that the Ornate Building was named Douglas Building and had numbers 24 and 24A.
The house numbers 24-25 are valid for The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Building [1954- ]. For this new building, house no. 25 was demolished around 1952. Eight buildings left (26-33), see this photo from 1965:
The houses 26-33 were probably demolished around 1965-1968, on this place new buildings were built, among them Wing Lung Bank Building which opened in 1972.
