Honoria Anna Maria was born 31 Jan 1810 in Croydon, Surrey, daughter of James DANIELL of the East India Co. civil service in China. In 1832 she married John JACKSON, a widower who also was employed in the East India Company's civil service in China. They emigrated to Wellington in 1856 on the "Rose of Sharon" with seven of their younger children. (An older married daughter, Mary Ann DARBY, died in Cawnpoor with her baby in the Indian Mutiny.) They brought with them all their furniture, a goat for milk supply, a governess and kitchen staff. They lived in the Hutt Valley where John was a Justice of the Peace.

They died in 1869 in Wellington and are buried together.

Very intriguing in that our John Jackson was at least partly Chinese, (naturalized in NZ in 1870 and claimed then to have been here 11 years) and we had been told the illegitimate son of an English East India Company widower and his Chinese cook. But so many details fit with other family anecdotes. We will get back to you. Thanks so much so far.
