It is worth noting the first generation HSBC building was at today wai fung plaza location. According to 1971-1976 年香港年鑑, HSBC Mongkok branch was at both 664 and 673 Nathan Road. In 1970 it was 664. In 1977 年香港年鑑, only 673 remained. So it is reasonable to assume first generation building stopped operation in 1977 and second generation building started operation as early as 1971. The first generation building was demolished between 1977 and 1984 because Wai Fung Plaza was built in 1984. HSBC moved some operations to the opposite side of Nathan road in 1971. That means it moved from the south east corner to the south west corner of that junction.
