We are having our resident's Lounge done up here at CCC. We have some framed drawing by the above artist, and I got to thinking about him. I think that he was with the SCMP. What a gifted guy! Can anyone fill me in with any details? Thanks! Keep safe everyone!

Iain Leighton on Facebook happened to mention him in the Hong Kong Past- The Early Years. Here's his post:

"Tom Briggs who was the principal art teacher at KGV gave my mother copies of many of his sketches when my mother retired as KGV’s Secretary in 1978. I have always liked this one of what appears to be a frail lady being transported over a stream somewhere out in the NT. I supposed these sedan chairs were made of bamboo? Regrettably I was never transported in one of them :-("

His post included a photo of the sketch. In the discussion, it seems he has passed.

It was sweet of you to respond so quickly, thankyou for the interesting information. When I lived in the NT near to Kam Tin, there was an old stone bridge near our house which was believed to have been constructed by two brothers who needed to transport their elderly and frail mother across the stream. It may have been the lady whom they were transporting in the sedan chair. I cannot for the life of me remember the name  of the bridge.! Stories like that fascinate me so I shall investigate. Many thanks again. Ren
