There is a new item in today's Stand news that details how the stone has been removed during recent re-paving works even though the area where the stone was was not part of the project. Perhaps damaged during the process and dumped, or maybe taken by a collector wanting a historical "relic"?
I guess ignorance plays a part. Not too dissimilar to the Victoria Boundary Stone at Magazine Gap Road which was removed "unintentionally" many years ago.
