As a child, walking with my parents, Raymond and Pixie Smith, on the hillsides of Hong Kong in 1939, I remember seeing Chinese burial urns each placed in a favourable spot with a view. On one occasion I climbed up the hillside and took the lid off an urn to look inside. I was frightened to see a skull and pile of bones and fled back to my parents seeking reassurance.
