I still remember that hawker who used to sell lamps along Battery Path (at the west end; conjunction with Ice House Street); once I even read an SCMP article about the special licence that allowed him to sell lamps there. The view of his business was magnificent: he puts his colourful lamp shades on the railings that guarded Battery Path against Queens Road Central underneath.
I think that hawker wound up his business by the early eighties.
