South China Theatre operated during the period January 9, 1966 - January 16, 2005.  One source listed below points out South China Theatre's ticket sales in 1986 ranked sixth highest in the entire Hong Kong, and fifth in 1987, its location in the busy Mong Kok was likely the main factor.  The 1990 renovation turned it into a 2-screen theatre until 2001 at which time it returned to 1-screen.
