Hi there,

This complex is just down the slope from the Radar Station.  Sort of a creepy &  abandaned place behind wired fances.  It is over-looking Sek Kong airfield and they even have four blocks of concrete with some bolts on them, which seemed to match those for Ack-Ack guns that I saw on Mount Davis.  Could somebody confirm if this used to have something to do with RAF?

Best Regards,

Hi IDJ,

Thanks for the tip.  Actually I have already browsed through that site before posting.  The photos there did not help much as the Radar towers had been rebuilt.  One of the photos had a stone feature which we might be able to match, but that would mean another hike up there some other time.

Best Regards,

This is probably the remnants of the Composite Signals Organization (CSO) electronic monitoring facility which was active at Tai Mo Shan until 1996. CSO Hong Kong was an offshoot of GCHQ at Cheltenham, and was based at the former RAF Siu Sai Wan, and later at Chung Hom Kok. I believe GCHQ took over most of the RAF's communications intercept work in the 1950s.

Hi there,

Last time when I was up there I recognized there seemed to be a series of secondary perimeter poles about a few metres behind the fence.  But there are something on the poles.  Many of these 'boards' had rotted away, but this particular one looked basically intact, with the cables and connectors.  I wonder if they are for the perimeter fence.

Electrified fences and Ack-Ack guns?   This must be a very important site back then.

Thanks & Best Regards,

T
