Don't know the status of the pier, but decades ago the small and remote Estate has their own ferry service. I remember watching a documentary (probably by RTHK) that the original developer still lives there. No idea about the rest of the houses though. Any update and/or confirmation welcomed.
ps. Recent visits to Cheung Chau realized there is still a private ferry service between Sea Ranch and Cheung Chau. The ferry fare is included in the management fees. The ferry is NOT opened to the public. Only available to residents and their guests.

More activity there
We coasteered in 2021 all that shoreline and there was quite more activity there. Some buildings being refurbished & a guard checking that no Urbex groups were getting into the premises. It seems that there were some people living again there I am guessing with non regular Kaito services from Cheung Chau.

I seem to recall that the government had housed the new incinerator construction workers in part of the Sea Ranch development.

Hi Phil,
I believe that was through a third party to some landlords there. Caused a nuisance among the neighbourhood. There are also shuttles between Cheung Chau and Shek Kwu Chau for that. Last week, I saw quite a few restaurants in Cheung Chau loading cartons of lunch boxes to one such ferries to Shek Kwu Chau. Guess the incinerator is still works in progress?
