Timeline:

  • 1901: Plans approved, construction commences shortly for a 2 x 6" BL Bty at Devils Peak.  (WO 78/4140).
  • 1903: 2 x 6" BL Mk VII guns. (Called Devils Peak Bty).  (CAB 11/57).
  • 1907: 2 x 6" BL guns to be removed, 1 x 9.2" BL Mk X gun to be added.  (CAB 11/57).
  • 1909: 1 x 9.2" BL Mk X gun approved, not yet mounted.  (CAB 11/57).
  • 1910: 1 x 9.2" BL Mk X gun approved, not yet mounted.  (CAB 11/57).
  • 1911: 1 x 9.2" BL Mk X gun.  (CAB 11/58).
  • 1917: 1 x 9.2" BL Mk X gun.  (CAB 11/58).
  • 1921: 1 x 9.2" BL Mk X gun.  (CAB 11/58).
  • 1936: 9.2" gun removed, to be installed at the new Stanley Bty.  (CAB 11/196).
  • 1957: Devils Peak land transferred back to Government in April.  (WO 78/6009).
  • 2014: Gun pits, underground magazines and some buildings remain, most in derelict condition.
