Soares Avenue looking south east. The 7-11 on the left demarcates the starting point of the 'triangular plot' which housed the pro-Commie school. Now it is a residential block called Wing Ying Mansions.

A little snippet from Jason Wordie's excellent "Streets: Exploring Kowloon" book mentions that this road was named after the developer's family - headed by a Portuguese businessman called Francisco Paulo Vasconcelos Soares.

The Soares family was responsible for developing Peace, Liberty and Victory Avenues (named to commemorate the end of WW1) in the 1920's. Nearby Emma and Julia Avenues were the female members of the family.

Francisco Soares died in 1953 and is buried in Happy Valley Catholic cemetery.
