It covers world history of a wide area ranging from Europe, America's to the East, for that specific half century. 

Chapter 35 of it is about Hong Kong, for three periods : 1836-1842, 1842-1843, 1843-1844. Interestingly this is the ending chapter. Followed by full bibliography of the work.

No specific information about him may be found on the internet yet. By cross checking, this work may have been available via internet by 2018, or earlier.

The following is a list of the settlements on Hong Kong with their approximate populations :

Chek Chu 2,000; Shaukeiwan 1,200; Wong Nai Chung 400; Heung Kong 200; etc., totally some 4,200 people plus 2,000 boat people and 800 shopkeepers in the bazaar.
