There is an episode of Jason King called "Every Picture Tells a Story" that was broadcast in March 1972 (so most likely filmed in 1971) that includes some views over Magazine Gap Road and clearly show this development. So I think its open date can be pushed at least back to 1972 if not earlier.

Not 1973
Viewpoint was built circa 1964-65

The old flats and the more modern annex were both demolished in 1963-64 to make way for the new Morning Post flats in what became 7 Bowen Road, or Viewpoint. These were two 9-storey towers each with two flats on floors 1-8, a penthouse on the 9th and a single flat on the ground floor. In addition to accommodating Morning Post families (like ours), many of the flats in B block were leased to the HK Telephone Company for their expats.
These were demolished in the mid-1990s and the current complex, the Regence Royale was built there and it became 2 Bowen Road.
