Please note, my mother Marjorie Bray should not be shown as “still living” as she passed away at home in the UK in the early hours (UK time) of Monday 23 May 2022
Just noticed an incorrect birth date for my mother and unclear dates/locations for my father. I’ve put both birth/death dates and locations below.
As you probably know Dad’s parents were Methodist missionaries living and working in Fatshan (Foshan) where my father grew up. Mum’s father was in PWD and her siblings were David Bottomley and John Bottomley - all passed on now but I’ll leave it to my cousin Robin Bottomley Smith to update further detail
Thankyou for your kind words and updating dates as appropriate
regards, Jenny

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Anthony, and I am part of a group of devoted Catholics who are researching the historical development of the Catholic Church in Hong Kong, particularly focusing on the priests from the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME) who have served the community since 1858.
We are currently investigating several PIME priests who have made significant contributions to various neighborhoods and communities in Hong Kong. One key figure is Father Ambrogio Poletti, who dedicated over 20 years of service to the Fanling community. In our recent research, we discovered that Father Poletti had a close relationship with your parents. Notably, there is a well-known photo in your father's book, published in 2001, featuring both your parents alongside Father Poletti.
During our oral interviews with those familiar with Father Poletti, we learned that your mother, Marjorie, recorded some video footage of him around 1969 or 1970 using a classic video recorder during her visit. Unfortunately, with Father Poletti's passing, we have not been able to locate these recordings, and no information about them seems to be available online.
I wanted to reach out to inquire if you are aware of this footage and, if so, whether you might know its whereabouts. We are currently working on a documentary that explores the Catholic history of Hong Kong, and we believe that including footage of Father Poletti would be invaluable for this project. It would help create a lasting cultural legacy for both the Hong Kong Catholic Church and society at large.
I would greatly appreciate any updates or insights you may have on this matter. Please feel free to contact me via email at kuievita@gmail.com.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
