HI There

Ive recently bought a photograph that was descrived as a Hong Kong Football team. It's black and white, and to me looks like from the 40's' At a guess it's a navy team but does anyone have more info on this Thanks D

Ok some progress

Took the photo out the frame, and in the back there were copes of the Honk Kong Telegraph and the South China Morning post, both from 1928

So this meads the teams are from :

  • Somerset Light Infantry Regiment
  • King’s Own Scottish Borderers
  • Royal Navy
  • Army Small Units
  • Police
  • Kowloon FC
  • Royal Garrison Artillery

Also the shield at the back referenes Dewars and 'flats to let scotland' so best guess is KOSB

An in the crowd there are lots of capps that look like Navy ones, so assume the other is Royal Navy

Thanks for the picture of the shield. Around the time the photo was taken, local footballers would have known about the Dewar Shield, which the Shanghai football league played for:

League
Originally played for the Dewar Shield until the twelfth victory of the
Shanghai Recreation Club in 1928/29. The Shield was then awarded to the
Club, and replaced by the Shaforce Shield.

So I wonder if the great variety of drinks shown on this shield, including Dewar's, was an in-joke about the Dewar Shield?
