The 1970 map on HK Map Viewer has the two perpendicular buildings of the Canton Road Govt Offices as C.I.P March 1970, so I assume this was construction in progress, which makes me wonder about the dates attached these two images: https://gwulo.com/media/29853 & https://gwulo.com/media/29852.
Yes, an anomaly in the dating of the Flickr photo. Wikipedia also mentions 1971 as the year of completion. Date amended.
Noted in the 1970 Hong Kong Annual Report that an office block and Marine Department buildings at the former naval camber in Canton Road were being constructed. The buildings were subsequently renamed the Canton Road Government Offices with various government departments relocating to their new offices by mid-1971.
