Alfred Philip GREAVES [1884-1949]

The death occurred this morning of Alfred P. Greaves, an old resident and prominent stockbroker before the war.

Aged 65 (?), he had been actively connected with the  stock market for over 30 years and was one of the founder members of the Hong Kong Sharebrokers' Association, now amalgamated with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He retired from business in 1947.

Educated at Queen's College, the late Mr. Greaves was an all-round sportsman in his young days and a very keen shot. During WWII, he was in Macao and returned to Hong Kong after the liberation. He is survived by his son, Mr. Alec Greaves, sub-editor of the Hong Kong Telegraph, a niece Miss Beatrice Greaves on the editorial staff of the SCMP and a nephew Mr. Eric Cumine (The latter two names appear in the China Mail dated 26 September.)
