Since the 2022 upgrade, the roughly 3,000 Flickr images haven't worked very well. They display ok, but can't be edited.
There hasn't been any further development of Flickr support in the Drupal software that Gwulo runs on, so I've decided to convert them all to the standard 'Image' that we use when we upload JPG files to the site.
I've been trying different approaches on a test server for the last couple of weeks, and seem to have it working, so today I've updated them all here on the live site. You can see them all at: https://gwulo.com/taxonomy/term/21919/photos
They should work the same as any other image, so you can edit them, update the image, insert them into text, etc. If you find anything isn't working as expected, please let me know.
During the conversion I also took the chance to add a link to the source Flickr page at the bottom of the notes for each image, e.g. you'll see https://gwulo.com/media/18757 now has the text:
Source: This image came from Flickr, see https://flickr.com/photo.gne?id=4585116069
This line has been added automatically to each of the old Flickr pages. In some cases you may have already had included a link to Flickr in your notes, so this is a duplicate. In that case, feel free to delete the automatically added link and its text.
This is the beginning of the next round of upgrades to the website's software. These aren't as major as the 2022 upgrade, so where that took over a year, I'm hoping to have this finished in a few weeks.

Improvement
Thank you David for this substantial improvement. The blocked editorial feature was sometimes a pity as e.g. no errors could be corrected.
There is only one thing that doesn't work because it comes from Flickr. When the person who posted on Flickr doesn't allow a download, the photo does not appear on Gwulo. You posted a list of these above, thank you again. You can only work around it, make a screenshot and post this on Gwulo. But this has to be done by the person who posted on Gwulo.
Sometimes the photo has been deleted on Flickr. The only way out is to go to the old version of Gwulo (Gwulo: Old Hong Kong), take a screenshot or download the photo onto your computer and post it again on (new) Gwulo. Otherwise, this photo can only be deleted. David, can the user do it or is this the task for admin?
List
thanks for this David, I have been trying to re-upload lost images over the past few months but going through the whole image library was a rather daunting task, so this is a big help. Phil
re: Improvement
Hi Klaus, if you want to delete one of the old Flickr images just add a 'please delete' comment.
I've already deleted several of my old Flickr images where we've already got other similar photos on the site and they didn't add any extra details.
Regards, David
