The white building in the centre of this photo is 71 Peak Road, previously known as 274 The Peak. The 1924 map gives names for almost all buildings but labels 274 The Peak as RBL 198, perhaps because it hadn't yet been built.

In the photo above it's in the centre right, to the right of the top of the Ho Tung Gardens Pagoda.

The pic at https://gwulo.com/media/21078  shows it survived until at least the late 60's.

1921. 19 Dec 1921 auction of RBL 198, described as “above RBL 124”, GG S442/1921.

1921. 20 Dec 1921, HK Tel, Page 6. “Nobody appeared to have any interest in this plot (RBL 198) and it was sold for the upset price of $840 or 12 cents a square foot. Mr. C. C. STARK was the purchaser”.

1922. PWD Annual Report, Para 108(d). Sewer laid from Stewart Terrace to RBL 198.

1924. Peak Map ( https://gwulo.com/media/13017 ) has RBL 198, No 274 on both map and in key. No building name.

1924. Peak renumbering exercise. “274, RBL 198”. But 275-285 described as vacant. No building name.

1924. Jury List has Mr Charles Crawford STARK, presumably the 1921 leaser of the land, at 274 The Peak. In 1921 & 22 he had been at 57 The Peak, and in 1923 at 103A The Peak. From the Jury Lists from 1924 until 1941 he was at 274 The Peak almost continuously.

Therefore, 274 The Peak was built sometime between 19 Dec 1921 and 1924 and was then occupied by Charles Crawford STARK almost continuously until WW2.
