The ExxonMobil HK website refers:
- 1895: Vacuum Oil Co. opens an office on Duddell Street, Hong Kong
- 1926: Socony’s first service station begins operation in Kowloon, Hong Kong
- 1928: The first Socony gas station opens in Central, Hong Kong, using Mobil tradename
On the website, a photo of the Kowloon station is shown.
Unfortunately, the website does not give any exact locations. Any ideas?

Hi Klaus
As a starter, if you go through the Jurors list for the period eg 1927 list - it will list employees which mentions Socony, Laichikok Installation. Will need to do a bit more research to find the exact address in Lai Chi Kok.
Lai Chi Kok Installation
Hi David
The Lai Chi Kok installation (or Standard Oil Co. / Mobil oil berth and tank farm [1909-????]) opened in 1909. It was located at todays Mei Foo Chuen's location.
It could be that the station was there, but that was quite abroad and not really suitable for motorists. Although I have no prove I think the station was located somewhere in southern Tsim Sha Tsui.
