On the back cover of the book, it states "Barbara-Sue White has researched material for this book on three continents. She has spent many years in Hong Kong since 1968, and returns for several months each year from her home in Princeton, New Jersey. Her book Turbans and Traders: Hong Kong's Indian Communities is also published by Oxford University Press."
Barbara-Sue White published another book, "Chinese Women: A Thousand Pieces of Gold", in 2004.
