HARA (aka 原 榮二) [????-????]

According to the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan's Prisoner of War Report  Page 6/32, dated February 9, 1942, Hara (原 榮二) was a Second Lieutenant at the time and served as the Commandant of the Hong Kong Cox's Road Training Center (覺士道訓練所) .

Argyle Street Camp Commandant (POW Camp 'N')

• 1. 實森 繁夫 (Sanemore / Sanemori)

Our first Camp Commandant was a Lieut, SANEMORE , He knew little and did little. At this time there were many beatings and slappings which were witnessed by Lieut, SANEMORE but he did nothing to stop them.

• 2. 田中 齊 (Tanaka)

In May 1942, a Lieut, TANAKA became Camp Commandant. He had previously been Adjutant to Col. TOKUNAGA and we had hopes of improved conditions put he, like the rest, would do nothing except promise.

• 3. 原 榮二 (Hara)

When the Senior Officers left we had a Lieut, HARA as camp commandant for a while. I have no particular complaint against him except that he would do nothing for us. He was later commandant of the Civilian Internment Camp at Stanley.

• 4. 和田 義雄 (Wada)

While I was in Camp "S" at Sham Shui Po, Lieut, WADA was Camp Commandant And in Camp "N", Lieut, TANAKA was Commandant until the Spring of 1945 when Lieut, WADA became Commandant of both camps.
