After adding a connection or a tag to a page, that page is then shown at the top of the https://new.gwulo.com/whats-new page with red text 'new'.
That makes it look as though the page is newly added on the site, when really we've just added a small piece of extra information to it.
In the case where we added a connection, the page we connected to also shows up on the list as 'new'.
First, we should be showing a red text 'updated' instead of 'new'. Second, I don't think adding a tag or a connection should make the page appear on the https://new.gwulo.com/whats-new list at all.
When I was inserting tags to my post on John Steward on the new server, I first of all typed a mixture of unrecorded names + names already recorded on the old server. As soon as I typed a known name, all the unknown names were erased. I started again with the two already recorded names. These were accepted and displayed with a separation between them. I then typed the three new names, which were this time accepted but I couldn't put commas between the different tags and there is no separation between the three different items. Will it eventually be possible to introduce new tags that don't already exist in the tags list?
Abdool Razak Madar boarding house keeper Colonial Cemetery
I just added a ColonialCemetery tag to that page successfully. The trick is to type just one tag, then choose the matching entry from the list of suggestions so it is added to the tags with an outline around it, then repeating for any other tags. The list of suggestions shows any matching tags that already exist, PLUS the text you've typed so you can add it as a new tag.
If that still isn't clear, I'll make short video of it when I'm back to HK.
I wanted to add a "Connection" to Cicely Beatrice Dangerfield Warren to record that she was parent of Geoffrey Beal Warren, who is already registered as a "Person" on the site, but the new site wont let me do that without also adding a comment, which I didn't particularly want to do. Is it possible to add Connections without Comments?
The goal is to be able to add a connection without having to add a comment. But trying it on my mobile phone I see that it isn't working. I'll investigate when I'm back to my desktop PC in around two weeks time.
Thanks David. It seems to be more difficult to correct via a mobile phone than via a computer on the new site. I was unable to correct the first name of Marjorie Cook's second husband via my mobile phone. (A relative had remembered it wrongly). I have now been able to correct it via my Mac and will try to add him as a "Person".
