Hung Hom Bay was reclaimed in two steps, the first ended in July 1989, the second one finally in December 1994. During the first phase, the 1979 Hung Hom Pier had to be demolished (done at the end of 1988), a new pier was planned and finally finished by November 1990.
For the intermediate period, a temporary pier was built. This pier was situated on a small piece of reclaimed land near Hung Hom Bay Centre off todays Hung Hom South Road, a pontoon was moored to the shelter/waiting rooms for boarding.
This temporary pier was in use from the (approximately) fourth quarter of 1988 until the end of 1990/early 1991. After decommission, this place was reclaimed and the pier vanished.

Ferry operator
Are we sure that it was still HK and Yaumati Ferry Co running the service (as it was at least 1979-88)?
Re: Ferry Operator
HYF was running ferry services since the 1920s. The company was acquired by Henderson Land Development, and in 1989 a major change was made. The parent company of HYF was renamed to "Hong Kong Ferry (Holdings) Company Limited" and it was decided to cease licensed ferry operations. Consequently, the licenses were sold to New World First Ferry Services (today Sun Ferry Services Company Limited) who started operations on 15 January 2000.
So HYF was operating from this pier, possibly under the name of Hong Kong Ferries (HKF)..
Thanks Klaus. I'm usually
Thanks Klaus. I'm usually more focused on the ferry services than than the piers. I understand that HYF operated around 20 subsidiary ferry businesses, including ‘Sea Link Ferries Ltd’ (but as you say ended licensed passenger services in 1999):
HYF
On this photo you can see a ferry at the temporary pier. It has the typical red side-stripes of HYF ferries. Might be a proof.
Both star ferry and YMT
According to this map, there were 3 lines at this location.

The Wanchai and North point lines were run by YMT.
The Central line was run by Star Ferry.
It has been like that before 1988.
