Colonel Dr Shunkishi Saito was the Japanese medical officer in charge of the prison hospital. After liberation he was accused together with four other Japanese officers to have committed war crimes. He was accused at the Military Court for the Trial of War Criminals in 1946 and 1947.
On the 14.02.1947, he was sentenced to death by hanging, commuted to 20 years imprisonment.
