structures on beacon hills

structures on beacon hill

structure on top of lion rock

 - these photos were originally posted under "structures on Lion Rock" and i was reassured earlier these structures were actually located on Beacon Hill. ae these stations still in use today? grateful if any members could give more details and history of these devices, and perhaps post photos taken from the other side(shatin). *(photos taken from home in homantin)

As have already mentioned previously by correspondents the radar station on the right has been decommissioned. The radar station on the left is in use.

History - well the first radar facility was the Japanese built one at Tai Mo Shan during WWII. Beacon Hill radar site came into being much later I think during the late 80s.

Try searching on Flickr for photos from the other side.

Hi there,

I guess those would be similar to the one at Tai Mo Shan as well as Mount Parker.  I wouldn't want to go near any of these high power radio equipments.  Don't want to be fried from within.

Best Regards,

T
