Hong Kong Cemetery

Today I spend a day at the Happy Valley Cemetery. Thanks to Patricia Lim it is now so easy to spot the graves! I have already a collection of german graves from the time I lived in Hong Kong. But now I could add a lot more. I took over 100 photos, sweaty and thirsty in the baking sun. Coming to Hong Kong for my vacation from a mediocre summer in Germany, I enjoyed the heat and the humidity. But I had one problem: how can I get to the area opposite Aberdeen Tunnel; i.e. Sections: 37, 38... If anyone could help I would be happy to bake again in Happy Valley.

Hi Christoph,

I can't remember the exact directions, but after you've gone in through the entrance (shown near 'old office' on the map), there is a way around to the left that goes under the flyover. I remember there was a wire gate across it, but it wasn't locked when I went. If you still have trouble, ask at the office, and someone should be able to point you in the right direction.

Are you researching anything particular on this visit? It will be interesting to hear what you discover. (I'm out of Hong Kong til next Sunday 14th, but if you're still in HK the following week and would like to meet up for a coffee, let me know).

Regards, David

Just go to Section 46 on the map, and go under the flyover from there. It looks off-limits, but isn't - just make your way across the sloping concrete, with the maintenance staff storage area to your left.

Hi David, it would be great if we could meet up for a coffee. I´ll contact you by email. Thanks everyone for the directions on Happy Valley. Hope I will find the sections.
