Help please; Hong Kong 1960

Hi,

My parents were stationed in HK late 1950's - leaving in 1960. Sadly mum passed awat a few years ago but left a pristine, still rolled, canvas hand painted and presented to her by the Principal of Wan Man English College.

The canvas includes a narrative in Chinese and English:

"This picture painted by Mr Lui Sheung Chi, teacher of drawing, is drawn fo [mum's name] who, after rendered a good service to our school since the day when the Wan Man English College was founded, is leaving the Colony. We heartily wish her and her family a bon voyage and a bright future."

Signed by The Principal 27 March 1960.

I'd dearly love any information on the college and / or the artist etc. if anybody can help.

Wah Yan College?  I think it was unlikely.  The quoted message read

As Gary mentioned his parents were stationed here back in the 1950's, Wah Yan College was found in 1919.  The time frame of when Wan Man English College was found did not match.

I've looked up the school listing in a directory published by Wah Kiu Yat Po in 1955, and could only find a school/college named Wai Man (衛文), not Wan Man. It's one of many private schools then, located at 46-52 Portland Street, at the junction with Waterloo Road in Yau Ma Tei.

Thanks for that information - mum & dad were only in Hong Kong from around 1958-1960 and, according to the text, mum was there when the school was founded - so it wouldn't show on records as early as 1955.

I've just, however, found a lapel badge with the enscriptions "Man Man English College" and "Defigere est Studii" on it.
