I can still picture myself wearing my school uniform and trudging along Bowen Road shifting the weight from one hand to the other.

My parents had a very similar basket from the late 1950's early '60's. It began life as a picnic basket and I can remember plastic plates stored in the lid. It had a second life as a suitcase, for my dolls clothes! Dad was in Hong Kong with the King's Liverpool Regiment in the early 1950's but I believe our basket was purchased in the UK. Thanks for posting, it brought back happy memories.
