John,

Thank you for up-loading the pictures . I stayed two weeks July 1963 in hut 11. Nearest hut to the pool. And considered the pool our pool.

We booked the hut through HK Missionary Society or some similar institution. An advert on the Union Church notice board.

My mum was  offered Sudan chair at Silvermine Bay. Similar to Pixie's.

We paid one cooly to take our trunk up and down. I think HK$90.

I remember we woke up one morning to find a heard of buffalo resting on our stretch of hillside.

Even for us in 1963 it was v basic. I was similar age to you in your photo. You may have stayed in the same hut. Twenty years before me.

Your family had a v good camera. The picture quality is v v good.

There was a shop and meeting room adjacent . Probably a church hall. I don't remember attending church services.

My father was concerned about the poisonous salamanders that were reported to be in the ponds and pools. We had just arrived the year before from five years in Ghana and my mother was looking forward to not having to look out for anything poisonous.

I don't think it was a holiday for my mother ...
