A small note in a 1945 SCMP article notes that the structure was used by the Naval Air Station HMS Nabcatcher when it took up residence

Just an observation.
HMS Nabcatcher occupied the western portion of the airfield. Not sure if the SCMP article is referring to the hillock with Japanese built structure atop that is located on the eastern side of Runway 13.
