R.A.F. Avro York and Hastings Kai Tak.

The Avro York long haul transport planes were derived from the Lancaster bomber and originally flew in 1942.  For a few years after the war they were also used by B.O.A.C. to replace the flying boats on their pre-war long haul routes.  Yorks continued in service with R.A.F. Transport Command until 1964.  Also. just visible on the apron at Kai Tak is one of the R.A.F.'s Hasting planes.  It seems likely that Bill and his pals had just arrived in Hong Kong. Did the passengers handle their own luggage?
