A walk to the rooftop in the 1950s gave us a view of the neighbourhood around us as all other buildings were of similar height. Stanley Chung posted this photo of his father and his Chinese note reads like this (excluding what I added in brackets): "My father Mr. Chung Man Kwok (notice the respect for his father), that time at the age of twenty and some, stood on Oriental Theatre's roof top. Why and how did he photograph himself? It's because he recently got promoted to supervisor and this photo was taken for memory. Notice how he rest his hand in pocket with pride and confidence".
Perhaps his new responsibility gained him access to the roof top. Take a look at the other photos, there were no safety barriers.
