By 1998 tall buildings were encroaching around Kai Tak Airport in anticipation of the airport's forthcoming closure.
I took this picture from Homantin High Level Reservior, a location seemingly rarely visited by aircraft photographers in my expirience. A recent walk up to this location found that there is no longer any views over Kowloon Tong and Kowloon City and the old airport site is barely visible through gaps between all the new hi-rise buildings. The site of the airport flashing beacon has been completely transformed into a garden area and is difficult to recognise what was a bare hillside.
